| − | The Washington State Patrol serves as the Primary PSAP for calls originating on Interstate highways. Radio being an inexact science means that WSP will receive cellular calls which are not within WSPs jurisdiction and other Primary PSAPs receive some calls which must be transferred to WSP.

| − | Except for Seattle Fire, all other PSAPs serve law enforcement agencies and when the call originates from within the area served by the PSAP, it will be answered by the PSAP serving the law enforcement agency. For example, Redmond Police answers 9-1-1 calls that originate in Redmond and Duvall. Calls for law enforcement service will be handled by Redmond. Calls for Fire / EMS service are handled by NORCOM, which means that Redmond transfer the 9-1-1 call to NORCOM.

| − | The King County trunked radio system is made up of three subsystems known as: Seattle, EPSCA (Eastside Public Safety Communications Agency) and KC / VC (King County / ValleyCom).

| − | The reason there are three subs-systems is primarily because of politics. For the scanner user, the three sub-systems present some challenges because of the way that talkgroups are served and the limited, yet often overlapping, radio coverage from each of the sub-systems. Newer scanner technology which allows control channels for multiple systems to be configured in a single scanner system reduce the complexity of needing to know which sub-system will carry the talkgroup traffic, but the overall system configuration means that there will be instances when a talkgroup may not be carried on the subsystem that the scanner is affiliated with.
