System Overview

Shawnee County and the State of Kansas currently operate a two-site, simulcast Type II Motorola 800 Mhz trunked radio system with 15 channels. Dispatching for all city and county public safety agencies is provided by the Consolidated Emergency Communications Center, supervised by the Sheriff. Plans are underway in April 2012 to replace the aging system with a P-25 digital trunked radio system.
