St. Charles County’s system is part of a larger system implemented concurrently in both St. Louis and Jefferson counties, increasing the capability of the entire metropolitan St. Louis area in responding to major disasters. First responders across different departments and municipalities are able to communicate with each other. The system provides better coverage, improving the level of service to residents.

Emergency Operations Center

  • Opened in fall 2018 next to the St Charles County Police Department. A $24 million, 30,000 square foot facility that houses all the County’s emergency functions.
  • Provides dispatching services for all fire and EMS agencies within St. Charles County as well as the St. Charles County Police Department and Sheriff’s Department. The department also maintains and supports the digital radio system and the Next Generation 911 phone system used by all police, fire, EMS and public works departments throughout the county.

Saint Charles County Sheriff's Department

  • Established in 1812, and it is the third most populated county in Missouri with an area of responsibility consisting of 587 square miles, with 800 miles of public roads.
  • Serves approximately 368,666 residents in the county, with approximately 111,243 residing in the unincorporated areas and 257,423 residing in county municipalities.
  • Largest Sheriff's Dept. in MO and the largest law enforcement agency in the county. 155 commissioned law enforcement professionals and 71 civilian personnel with duties ranging from serving civil process, traffic enforcement, neighborhood directed patrols to piloting our Metro Air Support helicopters.
  • Responsible for the safety and security of residents residing in the unincorporated areas of the county and also provide specialized and supplemental services to municipal police departments on request. Contract patrols to the cities of Augusta, Weldon Springs Heights, St. Paul, Flint Hill, Portage De Sioux, and West Alton. Responsible for providing full time Law Enforcement Patrol Services to the municipalities of Dardenne Prairie and Weldon Spring.

Bureau of Administrative Services

This Bureau is comprised of three Divisions: Civil Process, Records, and Management Services. The Bureau is comprised of approximately 12 Commissioned Personnel and 22 Non-Commissioned Personnel. Civil Process is responsible for the service of court documents within the boundaries of St. Charles County. Records serves as a repository for all records managed and generated by the Sheriff’s Department. The division of Management Services is further divided into seven units ranging from Professional Standards to Training.

Bureau of Criminal Investigations

This Bureau is comprised of four Divisions, Criminalistics Laboratory Division, Criminal Investigations Division, Forensic Services Division, and Cyber Crime Division. The Bureau is comprised of approximately 21 Commissioned Personnel and 16 Non-Commissioned Personnel. The Criminal Investigations Division has three specialized units, Crimes Against Persons Unit, Property Crimes Unit, and a Task Force Unit. Forensic Services is divided into five units, Crime Scene Investigation Unit, Evidence Management, Latent Print Examinations and Sexual Offender Compliance. The Criminalistics Laboratory provides forensic analysis of evidence submitted from law enforcement agencies in and around St. Charles County. The Cyber Crime Division is tasked primarily with conducting the forensic analysis of computers suspected to contain evidence of crimes and assisting detectives in conducting investigations in which computers are involved.

Bureau of Field Operations

This Bureau is comprised of two Divisions, Patrol and Communications both which operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week with three different shifts. The Patrol Division is comprised of approximately 84 Commissioned Personnel and 20 Non-Commissioned Personnel who are the backbone of our department, serving and supporting St. Charles County by responding to a variety of calls for service and providing crime prevention by actively patrolling neighborhoods and business areas. They are also responsible for providing full time Law Enforcement Patrol Services to the municipalities of Dardenne Prairie and Weldon Springs.

Bureau of Special Enforcement

This Bureau is comprised of six Divisions, Court Services, Community Education, Emergency Management, Firearms, Fugitive Unit, and Special Operations. The Bureau is comprised of approximately 38 Commissioned Personnel and 14 Non-Commissioned Personnel. Court Services provides a safe and orderly environment throughout the St. Charles County Courthouse. Community Education is responsible for School Resource Officers and the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) Program. Emergency Management promotes unified planning and coordinates the county wide response in the event of natural or man-made disasters. Firearms is a staff of department firearms instructors responsible for the training of all department personnel. Fugitive Unit is a specialized unit with a focus of searching out and apprehending wanted suspects evading arrest warrants. Special Operations is further divided into the following specialized units, Metro West SWAT, Metro Air Unit, Bomb Disposal Unit, and Crisis Negotiators.

Saint Charles County Regional Emergency Management (REM)

Emergency Operations Center (EOC)

National Equestrian Center (NEC)
