General Information

The West Virginia Air National Guard's 167th Airlift Wing/167th Airlift Squadron is assigned the C-5A Galaxy. The first C-5A for the 167th arrived at Martinsburg RAP on December 4th, 2006 (70-0459). The 167th AW is currently equipped with thirteen C-5A aircraft.

Current as of December 2014, the 167th has C-17's:

The 167th based at Martinsburg is to re-equip in 2014. The C-5's currently assigned to it will be replaced by eight C-17's. This change was announced on 2/3/2012.


The unit received their first C-17 on 9/25/2014, tail number 94-0070, which used the callsign Elvis 53 on the flight from it's former base in Memphis to Martinsburg.
