Wilson County 911 utilizes Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) codes for all EMS calls and pages:

  • Alpha (Priority-4): Nearest unit Cold
  • Bravo (Priority-3): Nearest unit Hot
  • Charlie (Priority-2): Nearest ALS Hot, Nearest BLS Cold
  • Delta (Priority-1): Nearest ALS & BLS Hot
  • Echo (Priority-P): All responding units Hot (Screened as in imminent life threat)
  • Omega: Public Service Call

As of 10/1/2012, All Wilson County EMS Units will utilize VIPER as primary radio communications. Also implementing AVL in coming months. Wilson County Board of Commissioners recently approved new equipment, VIPER radios, stations, ambulances and staff as an aggressive response to the population explosion in Wilson County and increase in call volume.

Wilson County EMS is recognized as having top quality employees, state of the art equipment and excellent administrative staff. The system is proud to have aggressive protocols, high clinical competency as well as MCI readiness (SMO Truck, SMAT). The system works closely with Wilson Medical Center as well as WakeMed, Vidant Medical Center and Nash General Hospital for all receiving patients.

  • Wilson Rescue Squad: Provides heavy rescue and water rescue for entire county and BLS Mutual aid in Medic 2 district
  • Elm City EMS: Provides BLS Mutual aid in Medic 5 district
