Dispatch Centers

Yamhill County has two separate centers for Emergency Call Taking and Dispatch:

  • Yamhill Communications Agency ("YCOM") - This is the largest PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point) of the county, all police and fire districts are dispatched by this agency excluding the city of Newberg and the city of Dundee as well as the more rural western parts of the county. YCOM dispatches for Amity Police and Fire District, Carlton Police and Fire District, Dayton Fire District, Lafayette Fire, McMinnville Police and Fire, Sheridan Fire District, West Valley Fire District, Yamhill Police and Fire Protection District and the Yamhill County Sheriff's Office.
UPDATE: As of February 2012 the Yamhill Communications Agency is taking over the maintenance and management of Yamhill County's radio systems, excluding 800MHz. See article here: http://www.newsregister.com/article?articleTitle=ycom+assuming+radio+system+command--1329335303--2686
  • Newberg-Dundee 9-1-1 Communications Center ("Station 82","82") - This is the PSAP for the cities of Newberg and Dundee. They dispatch for Dundee Fire, Newberg-Dundee Police and Newberg Fire.

Radio Systems

  • UHF Simulcast Network

This system is used for en route and on scene dispatch and operations for various county Fire, Sheriff and Police agencies. There are 5 UHF simulcast frequencies that cover the entire county. Additionally, there are many single site base repeaters that are used for fireground and mutual aide communications if need be.

  • VHF and Low Band Paging System

This is used for initial fire and EMS call tap outs. There is one VHF frequency and one Low Band frequency. The State Fire net frequency is also listed under the license for this system.

  • 800MHz Motorola Type II SmartZone System

This system is owned by Washington County Consolidated Communications Agency and is used by Washington and Clackamas County as well as the cities of Newberg and Dundee.

Fire call tap outs can be heard on either VHF frequency 163.2500 (CTCSS 131.8) or Low Band frequency 46.4200 (CTCSS 110.9). These two frequencies are patched together (Multicast). Transmissions from these frequencies are location specific to which agency they are going out to. For example you will not hear a tap for West Valley Fire coming from the Mountain Top Repeater which is in the north east part of the county.
