Ohio State Highway Patrol
Clark County is served by OSP Post 12 Springfield, located at 4201 Gateway Blvd., Springfield, Ohio. All communications use the Ohio MARCS-IP system.
Springfield Airport/Air National Guard base
KSGH Tower is now closed.
The primary tennant is the 178th Wing (Intelligence and Reconnaissance Wing) unit under the National Air and Space Intelligence Center mission. They remotely support the MQ-1B Predator UAVs for combat operations worldwide.
Current tenants are:
178th Intelligence Group 178th Surveillance Group 251st Cyber Engineering Installation Group 269th Combat Communications Squadron
The Air National Guard base is intact and expanding to the land across the state highway. For base security reasons, the state route will be relocated north of the construction area and the base will take over the old state highway. A similar project is underway at WPAFB to relocate SR 444.
Buck Creek State Park
Buck Creek State Park is a 1,896 acre state park located 4 miles northeast of downtown Springfield that features the 2,120 acre C.J. Brown Dam and Reservoir. The park is leased from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers who maintain flood control operations of the dam and reservoir. The park itself is maintained by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR). All official park communications are on the Ohio MARCS statewide system. Other VIP (Camp ground overseers) and campers can be heard using FRS radios throughout the summer camping season.
