Roanoke County Unit Designations
Most Roanoke County stations have units numbered by their home station's location.
- Format: Medic / Rescue Station Unit#
- Desc: ALS / BLS # #
- Example: Medic 5 2
- For example "Medic 52" is Hollins Unit, #2
Other units are specialty units that roam around stations, usually supervisors or chiefs. Replace '#' with station number.
- Medic # - ALS Staffed Truck of at least EMT-I or above
- Rescue # - BLS Staffed Truck consisting of an EMT-B or EMT-E
- Air 9 - Mobile Air Refill Truck, typically for Structure fires
- Tower 9 - Ladder Truck with basket
- Rehab 2 - Rehab unit for fires,to Rehab Fire Fighters and Victims
- Chaplin 1 or 2 - County Chaplin, helped victims of emergencies
- EMS 2 - On-Duty EMS Captain
- Battalion 1 - On-Duty Batt. Chief
- HTR 7 - Heavy Technical Rescue
- Squad # - Heavy Vehicular Rescue Truck, Jaws of life
- FM 1,2,3 - Fire Marshals
- Division Chief 1,2,3,4 - Division Chiefs for Roanoke County
- Chief # - Chief of a station and/or Rescue squad
- #50 - Cheif of a rescue Squad
- Engine # - Primary Response Fire Engine
- Wagon # - Primary Response Fire Engine
- Tanker # - Tanker Truck that holds 1500 gallons of water or more
- Brush # - Light brush fire response for small fires
- Car # - Response Vehicle for Fire/Rescue
- Utility # - Response Vehicle for Fire/Rescue
Roanoke County Call Types
- Fire Service Call - Fire Service Call, usually water leaks.
- Service Call - Patient needs help getting up, no injuries
- BLS - Basic Life Support
- ALS - Advanced Life Support
