Botetourt County Unit Designations

Almost all of Botetourt County's fire and rescue units are numbered by their home station's number.

EMS Designations

All ambulances mark up using a "Medic" or "Rescue" prefix followed by a three digit number scheme. "Medic" meaning an Advanced Life Support crew is on board. "Rescue" meaning a Basic Life Support crew is on board. If the ambulance is understaffed, the ambulance will use the suffix "Understaffed". All EMS response vehicles do not use a prefix (whether or not they have an ALS or BLS crew) when marking up. If a Medic (EMT-I or above) is on board then the unit uses a "Medic status" suffix.

Examples

  • Medic 152 - Is an ambulance based out of Rescue 1 (Blue Ridge) and has an ALS crew on board.
  • Rescue 253 - Is an ambulance based out of Rescue 2 (Troutville) and has a BLS crew on board.
