Introduction
Citizens Band, or CB, is a low-power (4 watts AM or FM; 12 watts PEP SSB), personal radio service regulated under Part 95D of the FCC rules. No formal license is required and has not been (in the US) since 1984.
The CB service is mainly used by professional over the road truck drivers for communications purposes such as road and travel conditions, along with directions or instructions to and within terminal facilities.

- Notes
- By long convention, communications on Channels 16 and 36-40 are usually in single side-band. Most scanners are FM, digital, or AM and cannot monitor SSB. A communications-type receiver such as one from AOR or Icom usually includes SSB capability.
