Botetourt County article

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that I reverted a majority of the edits you made recently made to the Botetourt County article. I am under the assumption that you run (or whatever) in Roanoke County or some other nearby jurisdiction, but not in Botetourt. I wanted to explain to you why I reverted some of your edits.

  • First up Read Mountain, when RCF&RD staffs 12-1, they are known as Medic 12-7 on Botetourt's frequency. I have no idea, if they call themselves that on Roanoke's frequency... They mark in service at 7 am and out of service at 5 pm (10 hours). I don't know why they don't work 12 hours, but that is when they run calls in Botetourt. Also, I use the terminology "Ambulance" (instead of "Medic") and "Response" to inform readers what 12-1 or any other three digit rescue apparatus is actually (ex. What or Who is 150?) and to avoid confusion (ex. Why did they markup Rescue 12-1 when its written here as Medic 12-1).
  • Second, tankers in Botetourt carry a minimum of 1,500 gallons of water with most carrying 2,000 or greater.
  • Third, the Fincastle stations. Basically the common tale of two departments not getting along and not wanting to be in the same station as one another. The fire station is Station 4 and rescue station is Rescue 4. I am pretty sure it is like hat elsewhere too. I used the phrase Company 4/Rescue 4 instead of Station 4 to distinguish the two more clearly (I agree it is not clean and pretty, but its not the same situation as other departments).
  • Fourth change, Botetourt County Emergency Services doesn't have a station, therefore calling them such doesn't make much sense.
  • And lastly apparatus order, I arrange apparatus by its agency (fire to rescue) and size (custom cab to light duty). There is no dispatch order (ex. MVCs can be handled by a Wagon then Squad at one department while another with an Engine and Utility) in Botetourt nor is there a true name standard (ex. a Wagon in Botetourt can be a pumper tanker at one station and a rescue pumper at another). Honestly, its chaotic on paper.

I appreciate the help, I am not trying to criticize you or claim an article, but I firmly believe that an article needs to be as correct and clear (for unfamiliar readers/listeners) as possible.
