Fire Units
Type Specific Designator - Station Designator and optional Redundant Equipment Differentiator
Tower 1, Crash 3, Engine 4, Tanker 5B (The "B" differentiator shows that Company 5 has two tankers thus the radio call signs "Tanker 5" & "Tanker 5B"), and so forth.
Rescue Units
Type (Staffing) Designator - Station Designator - Redundant Equipment Differentiator
All trucks in the county are licensed at the Advanced Life Support (ALS) level, however radio call signs are based on the apparatus' staffing level. Basic Life Support (BLS) staffed units are designated "Rescue" and ALS staffed units are designated "Med" or "Medic." For example, Rescue 2B, Med 5, Medic 15, etc. Note that the redundant equipment differentiator is NOT an indication of run order.
