Tags are put in place in the RadioReference database to tag all frequencies and talkgroups to a defined set of categories (or services).
Some examples of how this data will be used in the future include:
- Queries of individual service uses within a specific area (i.e. display to me all fire dispatch frequencies and talkgroups in Dallas County)
- Program a scanner with all police dispatch channels in Southern California
Tags and Guidance for Use
Aircraft - For aircraft and air traffic control operations most typically in the 118-136 and 225-400 MHz Bands in AM Mode
Business - For most business related entities not covered by other tags.
Emergency Ops - For Emergency Operation Center (EOC) Operations
EMS Dispatch - For EMS Dispatch Assignments, Rescue Squads etc
EMS-Tac - For EMS On Scene Communications, Tactical Operations, and Secondary Channels
EMS-Talk - For EMS Talkaround and Car-to-Car operations
Federal - For Federal Government Operations
Fire Dispatch - For Fire Dispatch Operations, and in the case of shared Fire/EMS operations
Fire-Tac - For Fireground, Tactical, and on scene communications
Fire-Talk - For fire department talkaround and car-to-car operations
Ham - any amateur radio assignment
Hospital - Most typically to be used for EMS to Hospital communications and patient reports.
Interop - Interoperability Communications and cross agency communications
LE Dispatch - Law enforcement dispatch operations
LE-Tac - Law enforcement tactical, SWAT, on scene, surveillance, and specific sub-agency comms
LE-Talk - Law enforcement talkaround and car-to-car operations
Media - Press, Newspapers, TV, Radio Operations
Military - All Military related operations. Range Control, Air-to-Air Combat etc
Multi-Dispatch - For shared law enforcement and fire/EMS dispatch operations
Multi-Tac - For shared law enforcement and fire/EMS tactical and on-scene communications
Multi-Talk - For shared law enforcement and fire/EMS tactical talkaround and car-to-car operations
Other - Anything other not covered by the other tags
Public Works - Public agency non public safety communications. Trash, Water, Streets, Roads, Sewer, Zoos, Electric
Railroad - All railroad communications
Security - Non law enforcement security operations, companies, guards etc
Schools - School related communications (school bus, football games, operations etc)
Transportation - Bus, Taxi communications
