Botetourt County Fire/Rescue Stations
Botetourt County has eight fire and rescue stations strategically placed throughout the county. Most of the stations house both fire and rescue with the exception of Fincastle which has two stations (one for fire and one for rescue). All of the stations in Botetourt are staffed by volunteers but some have paid staff in them. Station 2 (Troutville) and Station 4 (Fincastle fire) have 24/7 career EMS units in their buildings. Station 12 (Read Mountain) also has a 12 hour (daytime) weekday career EMS unit staffed by Roanoke County Fire & Rescue.

Botetourt County Unit Designations
Almost all of Botetourt County's fire and rescue units are numbered by their home station's number.
EMS Designations
All ambulances mark up using a "Medic" or "Rescue" prefix followed by a three digit number scheme. "Medic" meaning an Advanced Life Support crew is on board. "Rescue" meaning a Basic Life Support crew is on board. If the ambulance is understaffed, the ambulance will use the suffix "Understaffed". All EMS response vehicles do not use a prefix (whether or not they have an ALS or BLS crew) when marking up. If a Medic (EMT-I or above) is on board then the unit uses a "Medic status" suffix.
Examples
- Medic 152 - Is an ambulance based out of Rescue 1 (Blue Ridge) and has an ALS crew on board.
- Rescue 253 - Is an ambulance based out of Rescue 2 (Troutville) and has a BLS crew on board.
- 353 "Understaffed" - Is an ambulance based out of Rescue 3 (Buchanan) and doesn't have enough personnel to be staffed.
- 450 "Medic status" - Is a response vehicle based out of Rescue 4 (Fincastle) and has a Medic on board.
- 550 - Is a response vehicle based out of Rescue 5 (Eagle Rock) and has an EMT/Driver on board.
