The PL Tone and repeater frequency varies by location; some areas are using APCO-25 Common Air Interface. Encryption may or may not be used. 417.2 and 415.2 are the most commonly used repeater outputs nationwide.

FPS operates four MegaCenters (dispatch centers):

- Battle Creek, MI (FPS Regions 4, 5, 6)
417.200 Dispatch - Region 4 - analog and P25? - logged in FL (192.8 in Miami) 415.200 Dispatch - Region 5 - analog, 103.5 - logged in IL, MN, OH, WI
- Denver, CO (FPS Regions 7, 8, 9, 10)

FPS Unit IDs
FPS unit IDs are Number-Letter-Number format. First number designates the region, the letter designates the type of unit and the second number designates the individual unit.
- George - contract guards
- Ida - investigators
- King - canine
- Paul - patrol
- Sam - supervisory (sergeant)
- Tom - physical security (non-commissioned)
- Victor - commanders/high-ups
