County Law Enforcement Numbering
All law enforcement units in the county use a common unit numbering system consisting of a city or agency designation, then a type designation, then an individual unit number.
The format looks like this:
cc-A-uu
"cc" is the city or agency designation using the following codes:
- 9 Danville
- 11 Pittsboro
- 12 Plainfield
- 13 Brownsburg
- 14 Avon
- 32 Hendricks County Sheriff Department
"A" is the type designation using the following codes (on the air, the APCO phonetics are used--"Adam", "Charles", "David", "Edward", etc.:
- A - Administrative
- C - Corrections (Jail officers)
- D - Detectives
- E - Enforcement
- K9 - Canine officers*M - Motorcycle
- N - Animal Control
- R - Reserves
- S - Special, HCSD Civil Division
- W - Warrant servers
Fire Department Unit Numbering
- 30 Liberty Township (Clayton, Cartersburg, Belleville)
- 40 Hazelwood VFD
- 50 Mill Creek Rescue District 5(Amo)
- 60 Mill Creek Rescue District 6(Coatsville)
- 70 Mill Creek Rescue District 7(Stilesville)
- 80 North Salem
- 90 Danville-Center Township
- 100 Lizton-Union Townships VFD
- 110 Pittsboro-Middle Township
- 120 Plainfield
- 130 Brownsburg-Brown-Lincoln Townships
- 140 Avon-Washington Township

- Charles=Jail officers HCSD
- David= Detective's HCSD (Unmarked cars)
- Edward= Enforcement HCSD (Deputies) (Marked cars)
- Robert = Reserve Division
- Amo/Stilesville Are using Car 1, Car 2 etc..
