APRS or Automatic Packet Reporting System is an amateur system designed to provide real-time tactical information about stations operating in your immediate area. While tracking mobile assets is the strong suit of APRS, it can be used to provide information about local voice repeaters, local events (meetings, hamfests, nets, etc.), the weather, and simple text messaging. APRS was invented by Bob Bruninga WB4APR.
