During this time, all City agencies converted to UHF - 450 MHz communications. The police were first, followed by public works. Then as more funds became available, fire and rescue was moved to UHF. The paging for fire & rescue continued on VHF - Low Band and UHF for a period of time when multiple channel, narrow band pagers became available. After all members of both agencies were outfitted with new pagers and the old VHF - Low Band transmitter started to malfunction, paging was completely moved to UHF.
