Data Removal Policy

From The RadioReference Wiki

Revision as of 16:03, 1 July 2007 by Mikeag (talk | contribs) (added comments about dropping Wiki articles)

RadioReference.com will NOT honor requests to remove system information for City, State, and Local Government authorities. The system information provided on these pages provides an important resource to well meaning users of the data, and we do not intend to change that.

RadioReference.com WILL ONLY comply with requests from Federal and Military System Managers to remove trunked system data only. The RadioReference.com webmaster understands that federal/military system information can be considered classified by federal law and will comply with the request to ensure that the law is not broken ONLY if the request is typed on official letterhead and is signed by the commanding officer of the communications unit/division. Email requests will not be honored. The letter should specify which systems to modify/remove, and should be sent to the following location:

RadioReference.com
18160 US Hwy 281N Ste 108-133
San Antonio, TX 78232

There are only a few instances where data on the Wiki will be dropped. These include:

  • Empty articles - they serve no purpose except as a placeholder - they should be used sparingly
  • Articles that exactly duplicate other articles - these add confusion since they frequently repeat information available in another article which is more complete anyway
  • Articles with a single link and nothing else - wasteful
  • Spam and malicious content - This includes Talk and discussion pages.
