Both the Sheriff Department and EMS have the ability to use encryption (DES-OFB multi-key).
The Sheriff Department uses it regularly (but not full-time) when discussing ongoing investigations or issues related to juveniles.
EMS will very soon begin encrypting almost all transmissions. Whether or not the initial dispatch will be encrypted remains to be seen.
