Function tags are put in place in the RadioReference database to group frequencies and talkgroups into a defined set of categories (or services).

Some examples of how this data will be used in the future include:

  • Queries of individual service uses within a specific area (e.g., display all fire dispatch frequencies and talkgroups in Dallas County).
  • Program a scanner with all police dispatch channels in Southern California.
