Scanning in Durango

For listening to Durango PD, the best Control Channel is Smelter Mtn (La Plata). This will give you the best coverage of the city's Talkgroups.

The city uses a 3 digit numbering system to identify each unit.

  • Code 1: warrant / want / protection order
  • Code 2 (person, plate): clear a (person, plate)
  • Code 3: standard
  • Code 4: standard, but also used in place of 'copy'
  • Code 5: meet with...
  • Code 6: not used
  • Code 7: standard
  • Code 8: in service
  • Code 9: not used
  • Code 10: giving transport to [1 adult male] to [location]
  • Code 44: situation under control, no more units necessary

Scanning County Fire Rescues

All fire pages (not necessarily TAC channels) are simulcast on the DTRS as well as their respective conventional channels (e.g. Animas FPD). Fire rescues in the area use conventional channels when DTRS coverage is poor, so it is a good idea to have both in your scanner. Conventional channels are not named based on their rescue authorities' name, rather the Fire Protection District's name.
