Missoula County operates a simulcast VHF conventional radio system for public safety operations for Missoula County agencies. There is a consolidated PSAP and dispatch center for city, county and rural agencies.

While the Interoperability Montana project has identified sites and had preliminary plans to expand their system into the Missoula area, this build out is not expected in the immediate future.

Missoula has relatively new RF infrastructure and good coverage throughout their area of operation in their conventional, simulcast system. The conventional system is expected to remain operational for the foreseeable future.

Missoula has completed the transition to narrow analog for all public safety dispatch and most tactical channels. The system is designed for mixed mode P25 operation, however, only encrypted P25 is used occasionally.
