In Onondaga County, "10" Codes are no longer used. Instead, what
were formerly 10 codes are called signals. Popular "signals" are:

Onondaga County Dispatchers use a series of pre alert "attention" tones before Fire/EMS calls are dispatched, or before very important information is transmitted.

Single Tone - Incoming EMS, Rescue, or Miscellaneous Fire Call
Double Tone - Incoming Box Alarm, Possible Building Fire
Triple Tone - Incoming Signal 99 Dispatch (Working Fire)
Pulsating Tone - Incoming Important Information (i.e. address change, important information of building features/hazards)

Warble "Hi-Lo" Tone
Building Evacuation, "MAYDAY", or other significant fireground hazard (i.e. wires down, collapse hazard)
