The Pro-96 was manufactured for Radio Shack by GRE America Inc
The Radio Shack is a Digital Trunk Tracking scanner which boasts the ability to track APCO 25 digital trunking systems, in addition to following Motorola type I/II systems and EDACS trunking systems. Other features include:

- Virtual Memory - Allows up to 5500 channels
- Preloaded with the most popular radio systems in the country
- 6 search ranges/ 1 user definable search range
- SAME weather alert
- 1 Priority channel
- Global attenuator
- Alpha-tagging
- CTCSS/DCS abilities
- TCXO for frequency stability
- Computer Programming (not computer control)
- Latest CPU firmware version is 1.4 (hardware upgrade from 1.3 only) - To check firmware numbers: Turn on the scanner and hold down the 3 button, the latest display should read:
CPU: F1.4 DSP-APP: F1.2 DSP-VOC: F1.0
