RENIR is Quebec's provincial trunked radio system.
Multiple agencies operate on the RENIR such as SQ (provincial police), MTQ (ministry of transportation) and SAAQ. All of these agencies communications are encrypted.
Most of the sites are on the VHF band and connection to the towers are affected by terrain and buildings. Some agencies use UHF repeaters (DVRS) to interconnect units to the system for a reliable connection in urban area.
