Overview

The United Counties of Prescott and Russell is an upper-tier municipality under Ontario law. The two previous counties have been "united" for over 200 years. The county consists of eight lower-tier municipalities that have replaced all previous municipalities regardless of whether the entities were villages, towns, cities, townships, etc. The county is located between Ottawa (a single-tier municipality) and the province of Québec and lies along the Ottawa River.

Law enforcement in the county is provided by the Ontario Provincial Police. EMS is provided by the County. Comms for law enforcement and EMS are on the Zone 2 of the provincial Fleetnet VHF trunked system. Fire protection is provided by fire departments in each of the Lower-tier municipalities. Most fire communications are on a DMR Tier-3 VHF trunked system.

Prescott & Russell EMS Apparatus

The United Counties of Prescott and Russell Emergency Services Department provides paramedic service including emergency transportation to hospital. Units are dispatched by the Ottawa Central Ambulance Communication Center (CACC) on the Bell Fleetnet system, Zone 2. The CACC is managed by the City of Ottawa, under an agreement with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
