As of September 2016 the University of Akron trunked system is actually a couple of different systems with a couple of networked sites.

The UA radio system started off as an LTR system many many years ago. At some point they converted the standard LTR sites to Passport. Now they are working towards converting everything to a networked NXDN (NEXEDGE 4800 baud) trunked system.

The NXDN system currently has two networked sites, the main site in Akron (WPRU679) and a site at UA-Wayne College in Orville (WQRE213, WQOV271). The NXDN site in Akron currently uses the five lowest numbered frequencies on the WPRU679 license.

The legacy Passport system currently has two networked sites, the main site in Akron (WPRU679) and a site at UA-Medina County University Center in Medina (WQJB561). The Passport site in Akron currently uses some combination of the 10 highest numbered frequencies on the WPRU679 license.

Little is currently known about the configuration of the current Wayne College NXDN site, the Akron NXDN site, or the MCUC Passport site.

The NXDN System/Network ID is 83. The Akron NXDN site is Site 1 (RAN 1).
