U of I Police and Fire

As of August 24, 2007, U of I Police is using MDICE for all their operations.
They are dispatched by METCAD on talkgroup TG 21502 'PATROL 3' (previously used PATROL 2 prior to 7/8/14). For emergencies or car-car, the units will use TG 21508 PATROL OPS 3 (which is encrypted). During sporting events, concerts, and parades, U of I PD use MDICE TG 22503 'INCIDENT 4' while at events. Some details will use one of the encrypted INCIDENT talkgroups (INCIDENT 5-8).

PATROL 3 is shared with Urbana Police (300s and 400s). 100s are U of I patrol officers, 200s are U of I supervisors.

Fire dispatch is provided by Champaign and Urbana Fire Dept's on MDICE with pages simulcast on 154.250 (131.8).

NOTE: testing on 453.900 (118.8) was heard 12/15/2010 and occasionally in 2011. This repeater is still active but not in daily use.
Also, note that on MDICE TG 22719 is the U of I dorm security (1-Mary-#s) and student patrol (SP units).

One of the Memorial Stadium frequencies will be used occasionally. It varies game to game which channel they choose to use.
If WDWS is carrying the game, listen for them on 161.670 CSQ (heard 2008-present).
IL EMS was at the game. They would be on 451.450 DCS131 (8/24/10). Also, Arrow or Pro will have an ambulance staged at the game. Interesting on 11/6/10 the stadium staff were using this channel for scoreboard operations.
Big Ten Network was heard briefly using 462.1375 DCS244 during a game they covered (10/31/08).

Eichelberger Field (link):

No radios observed in use at the softball game. ILEMS might have been at the game as well as PRO ambulance was there. The Big Ten Network used radios however and those frequencies are listed here.(4/16/08)

Golf
Home matches are played at Stone Creek Golf Club in Urbana. The course repeater is 462.8625 (79.7). Department of Intercollegiate Athletics was using 451.350 DCS071 repeater at the tournament April 16, 2011 announcing scores, but the following day was using cell phones for the same purpose. An NCAA staff member was sighted carrying a UHF radio. 467.900 69.3 PL was heard at the course and was likely used by NCAA or Big Ten staff as the Big Ten has license WPUP497 for several itinerant frequencies including 467.900.

Krannert Center for the Performing Arts

Traditionally Krannert had used a variety of tones on 452.850 and 457.850 both simplex, however in late 2009 they purchased Motorola XPR MOTOTRBO capable radios and many of the old frequency/tone pairs have fallen silent. The following is their current radio usage:

XPR radios were observed in November 2009 and noticeably less activity is taking place on the old frequencies listed below. They have a new license: WQKZ473 for DMR on new frequencies (both simplex and repeater). Both repeaters are now active (Sept 2011).

Since 11/12/09, of the old frequencies and prior to the two repeaters becoming active, only 457.850 (146.2) {for parking} and 453.600 (136.5) {for maintenance} have been confirmed to be still used (both still used March 2011). 452.850 (127.3), a new find, was logged in autosearch mode (but it's undetermined if this was a false hit). Both 452.850 and 457.850 sometimes have an unidentified choppy data/static sound on them in simplex mode that doesn't sound like the traditional loud raw DMR audio. 457.850 (146.2) still in use as of 10/22/10.

As of the 2012-2013 school year, the 453.325 and 453.450 repeaters switched from having various or no PL tones to both using 051 DPL but are now (2014) DMR. The repeater on 453.600 appears to be in DMR mode now, unconfirmed so far but probably the same users. F&S staff have been seen carrying Hytera DMR radios.
