Recall that under Ontario's most recent Municipal Act, municipalities are Upper-tier, Lower-tier, or Single-tier. Upper-tier municipalities are ''regions'' or ''counties''. Though not part of the law, regions generally provide more services than counties, for example, law enforcement. Lower-tier municipalities can have any name (''city'', ''town'', ''village'', etc). Lower-tier municipalities also provide law enforcement. Single-tier municipalities are either large cities like Hamilton or Ottawa, are smaller cities like Cornwall that have been separated from the Upper-tier municipality where they are located, or are located in Northern Ontario where ''districts'' (with one exception) are geographical and provide no municipal services. | Recall that under Ontario's most recent Municipal Act, municipalities are Upper-tier, Lower-tier, or Single-tier. A list of government law enforcement agencies serving Ontario. This includes provincial agencies, First Nations agencies, and municipal agencies. It does not include private or quasi-private agencies such as railway police.
Recall that under Ontario's most recent Municipal Act, municipalities are Upper-tier, Lower-tier, or Single-tier. Upper-tier municipalities are regions or counties. Though not part of the law, regions generally provide more services than counties, for example, law enforcement. Lower-tier municipalities can have any name (city, town, village, etc). Lower-tier municipalities also provide law enforcement. Single-tier municipalities are either large cities like Hamilton or Ottawa, are smaller cities like Cornwall that have been separated from the Upper-tier municipality where they are located, or are located in Northern Ontario where districts (with one exception) are geographical and provide no municipal services.
