Cheshire County Police Dispatch
With the exception of the Keene Police Department, all local law enforcement agencies in Cheshire County are dispatched by the Cheshire County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) dispatch center in Keene. County law enforcement dispatching is conducted on 155.0700 MHz, P25, NAC 117. Some municipalities maintain and utilize local tactical ("Tac") channels; however, all primary dispatching is handled by CCSO.
Several municipalities in Cheshire County either do not maintain a local police department or do not operate their department on a 24/7 basis. Some municipalities contract with CCSO for a specified number of patrol hours per week. During periods when a local agency does not have an officer on duty, emergent calls for service are handled by the New Hampshire State Police, Troop C, which also provides backup assistance to local agencies when requested or needed.
Individual agencies use separate radio unit IDs/callsigns, which may change periodically. In general, the lowest unit ID numbers correspond to the agency itself or its police headquarters. For example, Jaffrey Police uses 1600 to identify the Jaffrey Police Station.
It is also worth noting that the majority of New Hampshire law enforcement agencies have their radio systems programmed at the state level. Individual radio IDs are typically six digits, with the first three digits corresponding to the agency's **ORI (Originating Agency Identifier)**. The ORI is a unique identifier assigned to a law enforcement agency for identification within state and federal law-enforcement systems. For example, Jaffrey PD unit 1 would read 316001, and CCSO Dispatch is typically 30001 (This particular one is 5 digits). In order to read unit ID’s (UID), a capable scanner (Uniden's SDS Series), an SDR system, or a Commercial Radio is required.
