Davidson County (NC)
From The RadioReference Wiki
Davidson County is in the process of transitioning to VIPER. Lexington PD/FD as well as Denton PD have moved to fully to VIPER and have left their UHF frequencies. Davidson County Sheriff, Lexington PD, and Denton PD are now encrypted.
As of 9 am 11/14/2019, Davidson County has gone live on the North Carolina VIPER system. The VHF Fire and EMS Dispatch channels are patched into their VIPER counterparts to allow for VHF/800 mhz interoperability. This patch (and the VHF system itself) is expected to remain in place through December 2020, at which time all operations will migrate to the VIPER system. As of late 2023, Fire and EMS Dispatch is still simulcasted on VHF.
During this transitional period, Davidson County Communications will begin assigning VIPER Fire TAC channels during initial dispatch. VHF Fire TAC channels will still be available for use but will need to be requested.
As of 9 am 11/14/2019, the Davidson County Sheriff's Office no longer operates on the UHF system. All Davidson County Sheriff's Office operations have migrated to the North Carolina VIPER system. All Davidson County Sheriff, Lexington Police and Denton Police (very small department) are all Encrypted.
Thomasville utilizes the Greensboro/Guilford county P25 system full time and is also encrypted.
