Forestry Commission (AL)

From The RadioReference Wiki

The Alabama Forestry Commission operates a statewide analog VHF radio system that it's personnel use for routine communications, fire prevention, and suppression operations. The system consists of one or two repeaters located in each county, which are linked back to Montgomery Central Dispatch via control stations located on Alabama Public Television towers. The system is completely narrowband (2.5 kHz deviation), and uses DPL (DCS) exclusively.

AFC divides the state into four regions: Northeast, Northwest, Southeast and Southwest.
Most all regions have two or more communications zones with counties that share the same frequencies and repeater output DPL.
Each repeater has a different input DPL.

  • WPKW751 - Statewide repeater inputs and simplex output
  • KA3961 - Statewide temporary repeaters amd mobiles
  • Note: Each repeater has multiple other locations, but we just show 1 repeater license in the region/zone (in the database)

Each region also has two simplex tactical channels used for on-scene or fireground communications.

Prior to the mid-2010s, AFC divided the state into 6 six regions: North, Northwest, Northeast, East Central, Southwest and Southeast. Some changes to the communications zones were made afterwards. The old map is shown here for reference only.
