Freescan and Anti Virus Software

As has been widely documented, some anti virus software issues a warning (or even blocks) downloads of FreeScan, saying that it has a virus or trojan. This is not true, and people have had to modify their anti virus software to allow the download and installation

This page is intended to document what steps are needed to temporarily bypass their anti virus software to allow FreeScan to be downloaded. Please be sure to give the name of the anti virus and version number, along with what operating system you are using (WinXP, Win 8.1, etc.). Include the precise message that you get. Be as detailed as possible - not everyone is comfortable making changes like these. The more detail, the better. It would also be helpful to keep the list in alphabetic order.
