Unit ID References

Radio ID structure

The classic RID structure starts with a Region Number (X), followed by a Prefix or County Code (YY), and then the Radio Identifier (ZZZZ). Like the following example:
XYYZZZZ

Radio Region (Xʏʏᴢᴢᴢᴢ)

Every Unit ID follows these regions

Region # Geographical Region (As listed on the reference above)
1 South Central Lower Peninsula
2 Southeast Lower Peninsula
3 Southwest and West Central Lower Peninsula
4 Northern Lower Peninsula
5 Eastern Upper Peninsula
6 Western Upper Peninsula
7 Detroit/Wayne County

Other Districts

Region # Geographical Region (As listed on the reference above)
8 Utilities
9 Extra
10 Extra
11 Extra
16 System Patches

Prefix (xYYᴢᴢᴢᴢ)

00 Dispatch Consoles
01-83 Counties
84 Consumers Energy, MPSCS Technicians
85 Consumers Energy
86 DTE
90 MPSCS Demo Radios
91 Federal Units
95 New State Police Units

Some agencies have a different prefix that doesn't follow the format, including District 7 units.

Units (xʏʏZZZZ)

As per the wiki, every type of unit is broken down into some ranges; not all units fit this. So take it with a grain of salt.

Range Designation
0000-2999 State Units
3000-9599 County Units
9600-9999 Base Stations

To identify every mobile or portable, every odd-numbered ID is a mobile unit, and every even-numbered ID is a portable. Consoles do not follow this format
