New York State Region 11 HELP Trucks
Information
NYSDOT Region 11 - New York City:
The HELP program within New York City has been operated by the NYPD since 1999. Through cooperative efforts with the New York City Police Department, 10 HELP trucks continuously patrol specified routes during the hours of operation. They are dispatched from the Joint Transportation Management Center (JTMC), a facility co-located by NYSDOT and the NYPD.
Each HELP vehicle patrols a specific segment of the roadway called a "sector", the combination of one or more sectors creating a "beat". There are three beats in Region 11 that cover portions of the Long Island Expressway (I-495), Van Wyck/Whitestone Expressway (I-678), Hutchinson River Parkway, and the New England Thruway (I-95).
