Pottawatomie County (OK)

Pottawatomie County Sheriff

-The Pottawatomie County Sheriff dispatch and other operations are on OMACS

-Before OMACS, the sheriffs office used OKWIN. Dispatch is still linked full-time for interoperability with OHP and Shawnee. The other talkgroups are available, but only used in the event of an OMACS failure.

-Before OKWIN, the sheriffs office was on VHF, most recently using a pair of repeaters on 155.8275MHz in the early 2000's. Before that, Pott County SO used 154.890MHz for county-wide dispatch. During the transition from VHF to 800MHz, 154.890MHz was repurposed for a VHF link to the fire talkgroups. The old repeater input, 159.015MHz was used by sheriffs deputies as a talkaround channel. The county and several towns maintain active licenses for these frequencies, but they are seldom, if ever, used.

Pottawatomie County Fire

-All county fire departments are dispatched by the Pottawatomie County 911 Center on OMACS
-Before OMACS, each county fire department had a talkgroup on OKWIN. These OKWIN talkgroups can still be used, but no recent traffic has been reported.
-Before OKWIN, county fire was on VHF. The terrain of southern Pottawatomie County made countywide coverage difficult, so each fire department had its own VHF frequency, usually a repeater. Many towns still maintain current FCC licenses for these frequencies and some may have been re-purposed. But VHF is no longer used for fire operations, with the exception of the state fire net (154.130MHz) for interoperations with neighboring counties.
