Prince George's County Fire & EMS Department consists of seven battalions.Those being.[1]

  • Battalion 1 which serves all communities in the general vicinity of Capitol Heights, Landover and Largo.
  • Battalion 2 which serves all communities in the general vicinity of Bowie, New Carrollton, Lanham, and Glenn Dale.
  • Battalion 3 which serves all communities in the general vicinity of District Heights, Temple Hills, Hillcrest Heights and Forestville.
  • Battalion 4 which serves all communities in the general vicinity of Hyattsville, Langley Park, Chillum, Brentwood, College Park and Riverdale.
  • Battalion 5 which serves all communities in the general vicinity of Accokeek, Camp Springs and Oxon Hill.
  • Battalion 6 which serves all communities in the general vicinity of Laurel, Greenbelt, Beltsville, and Berwyn Heights
  • Battalion 7 which serves all communities in the general vicinity of Upper Marlboro, Clinton and Baden.

Station 2 - Shady Glen

The Shady Glen station is staffed completely by PGFD career personnel. The original Company 2 designation was assigned to the Cottage City Volunteer Fire Company.

Station 6 - Springdale

The Springdale station is staffed completely by PGFD career personnel. The original Company 6 designation was assigned to the Hillside Volunteer Fire Department, which disbanded in 1999.

The Glassmanor station is the second station of the Oxon Hill Volunteer Fire Department (Company 21).

The Pointer Ridge station is the third station of the Bowie Volunteer Fire Department (Company 19).

Station 44 - Chillum

The Chillum station is staffed completely by PGFD career personnel. It was originally part of the Chillum-Adelphi Volunteer Fire Department (Company 34) prior to the county taking over operations.

Station 45 - Croom

The Croom station is staffed completely by PGFD career personnel. It was originally part of the Marlboro Volunteer Fire Department (Company 20) prior to the county taking over operations.

Station 46 - Largo

The Largo station is staffed completely by PGFD career personnel. Although the county has taken over apparatus and staffing of the station, it remains the second station of the Kentland Volunteer Fire Department (Company 33).

Station 47 - Fort Washington

This Fort Washington station is staffed completely by PGFD career personnel. It was originally part of the Allentown Road Volunteer Fire Department (Company 32) prior to the county taking over operations.

Station 48 - West Lanham Hills (Good Luck Road)

The Good Luck Road station is the second station of the West Lanham Hills Volunteer Fire Department (Company 28).

Station 49 - Laurel Volunteer Rescue Squad

Station 51 - Oxon Hill

A new station for the Oxon Hill area will be constructed in the coming years. Land has been secured and a groundbreaking was held in 2016, however construction has been delayed until 2030. The station was initially envisioned to become an additional Oxon Hill station and a permanent facility for National Harbor resources, however the station may end up replacing one of the existing Oxon Hill stations. Initially earmarked as Station 51, the station number is likely to change.


Company 53 - Special Events

PGFD personnel cover special events on an as needed basis and are typically based out of FedExField in Landover.

Station 55 - Bunker Hill

The Bunker Hill station opened to consolidate apparatus and staffing from the former Cottage City (Company 2), Mount Rainer (Company 3), and Brentwood (Company 4) stations.

Company 56 - Water Rescue

Company 56 is located behind the Baden Volunteer Fire Department (Company 36) and responds to water rescue incidents countywide.

Company 57 - Marine Fire Rescue

Company 57 is located at the Fort Washington Marina and responds to incidents on and around the Potomac River.

Company 58 - National Harbor

The National Harbor station is staffed by PGFD career personnel on an as-needed basis. If the station is unstaffed, crews from the neighboring Oxon Hill stations will respond. A public safety pier at National Harbor was completed in 2022.
