RUTHERFORD COUNTY EMS
RCEMS IS A TAX PAYER FUNDED THIRD SERVICE EMS AGENCY PROVIDING ALS 911 SERVICE WITHIN THE COUNTY PROPER AND ALL MUNICIPALITIES WITHIN ITS BORDERS. SERVICE IS PROVIDED BY 13 ALS EQUIPPED AMBULANCES AND 2 SUPERVISORS WHICH ARE STAFFED 24/7/365 AND IS SUPPLEMENTED BY 2 COUNTYWIDE ALS AMBULANCES DURING PEAK HOURS.
- SUPERVISOR UNITS
- MEDIC 21 AND MEDIC 22 ARE THE ON SHIFT ASSISTANT DIRECTOR AND NORTH END SUPERVISOR, RESPECTIVELY. SUPERVISOR UNITS MAY BE AUTOMATICALLY DISPATCHED TO HIGH ACUITY CALLS (SHOOTING, STABBING, UNRESPONSIVE/MAN DOWN, CPR IN PROGRESS, CRITICAL MVA, ETC). M21 RESPONDS TO CALLS SOUTH OF I840 WHILE M22 RESPONDS TO CALLS NORTH OF I840.
- COUNTYWIDE UNITS
- M13 AND M19 ARE THE COUNTYWIDE "FLOAT" UNITS. THESE UNITS ARE IN-SERVICE FROM 0800 - 2000 HRS AND ROAM TO DIFFERENT ZONES THROUGHOUT THE COUNTY BASED ON CALL VOLUME AND UNIT AVAILABILITY. MEDIC 39 IS QUARTERED WITH MEDIC 1 AND ADDITIONALLY PROVIDES BACKUP 911 SERVICE WHEN MEDIC 1 IS UNAVAILABLE.
- INTERFACILITY TRANSPORT (IFT) UNIT
- MEDIC 39 IS AN ALS STAFFED CRITICAL CARE AMBULANCE WHICH IS PRIMARILY TASKED WITH CONDUCTING INTERFACILITY TRANSFERS FROM SAINT THOMAS RUTHERFORD AND STONECREST HOSPITAL TO HOSPITAL FACILITIES IN NASHVILLE.
- ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF
- ADMIN STAFF ARE ASSIGNED UNIT NUMBERS M23 - M35. THESE UNITS ARE FULLY STOCKED ALS SUVs AND MAY VOLUNTARILY RESPOND TO CALLS FROM TIME TO TIME. HOWEVER, THEY ARE NOT AUTOMATICALLY DISPATCHED TO CALLS BY THE COMMUNICATIONS CENTER.

Rutherford County has 13 ambulances operating on a standard 24 hour on and 48 hour off shift and an additional 4 ambulances operating on an alternate 12 hour shift, and AmBuBus, a Mass Casualty Bus.
