National Park Service

Rocky Mountain National Park, CO
Rocky Mountain National Park has their own dispatch center under the call sign ROMO (Rocky Mountain National Park). ROMO operates and maintains a series of linked VHF repeaters throughout the park. These repeaters are separated by the continental divide into east, and west systems. The east side repeaters are all linked together, as are the west.

This system is very active with back country rangers, SAR operations, medical operations, park entrance stations, fire operations, and everything in between. East does seem to be busier than west.

  • Park law enforcement rangers mainly operate on the Colorado DTRS Trunked System. |DEC 9471|HEX 24ff|NPS Rocky Mountain|

-Note that this talkgroup is encrypted 24/7. Park LE does use the VHF system throughout the park when they do not have trunking coverage, which is frequent due to the limited number of DTRS sites serving ROMO.

  • When using the simulcast system, park LE can also encrypt their traffic on that system. Dispatch will be unencrypted, but LE may or may not be encrypted. If you are hearing a one sided conversation, that is why!

-When LE rangers are talking to non LE units, they run unencrypted

Eastside Park Channels (East Net)

  • All 4 RX Frequencies are Simulcast
  • East Net Channels are capable of operating in mixed (digital OR analog) mode.
