Naming

Summit County is so named because it includes 39 of the highest mountain peaks in Utah.

Summit County Dispatch

The Summit County Sheriff’s Office provides dispatch services for all law enforcement and fire/medical agencies in Summit County, as well as for Summit County Animal Control, Summit County Search & Rescue, Basin Recreation Park Rangers, Park City Municipal Park Rangers, U.S. Forest Service Law Enforcement (Wasatch National Forest), UHP Section 7 troopers, and any Department of Natural Resources officers or Adult Probation & Parole agents operating in the county. The lone exception is U.S. Forest Service Fire resources, who are dispatched by the Northern Utah Interagency Fire Center. Aside from the two VHF links noted in the database, all traffic is on the Utah Communications Authority (P25) system.
