Lincoln County Radio Traffic Guide
Lincoln County is dispatched via the Lincoln County Sheriffs Office under the call sign 44-1. 44-1 is located in the basement of the county court house in Canton, SD. Radio communications are primarily done on analog frequencies. The nearest digital towers near Lincoln county are in Sioux Falls, or south in Union County. This creates many dead spots for radio users, especially for handheld radios. The only entities that only use the digital system for communications is Highway Patrol, DOT, and other state users.
Lincoln County Law Enforcement
Lincoln County Sheriff is the main county entity for Law enforcement. They are dispatched from 44-1 via an analog frequency listed below. Lincoln County Sheriff also has multiple digital channels but due to spotty tower coverage they are rarely used. Lincoln County Sheriff units utilize the call signs of 44-Adam(#).

Lincoln County Fire and EMS
Lincoln County is comprised of all rural volunteer fire and EMS departments. All Lincoln County Fire Departments are dispatched via Lincoln County Sheriff dispatch from 44-1. All Lincoln County Fire communications are on the county owned analog system comprised of 6 analog non connected repeaters. There are three digital fire channels and three digital medical channels for use in the county, but they are almost never used. Lincoln County FD 1 and Med 1 are listed below. All firefighters and most EMS departments do not have staff at stations, they are at their homes or places of work at respond using text paging from dispatch or belt pagers that are paged on 154.445 using two tone analog technology. The cities of Lennox, Canton and Hudson have their own ambulance services. Those services then cover their surrounding rural areas. The cities of Tea and Harrisburg are covered by Paramedics Plus out of Sioux Falls.

South Dakota Highway Patrol/Interagency Channels
The South Dakota Highway Patrol has three dispatching centers. The centers are located in Rapid City, Pierre, and Huron. The Lincoln County area troopers are is dispatched from the Pierre Center. The highway patrol in South Dakota is divided into Squadrons or Squads. The Sioux Falls squad serves from the Minnehaha county line on the west side to the Minnesota border on the east on the southern Border of Lincoln and Union Counties to Just north of the Minnehaha county line up into Moody County. SD HP utilizes the South Dakota State Digital System for their communications. See the table below for further info. South Dakota also has interagency talk groups that are programmed into all radios. Any department or entity can use these channels to talk between themselves. These will also be listed below. Lastly the HP car to car channels will be listed...be advised these are mainly encrypted.
