Roanoke City Fire Stations
Roanoke City Fire-EMS department operates 12 fire engines, four aerial ladder trucks, eight ambulances, three command vehicles and airport rescue firefighting seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Firefighter/EMTs operate out of 13 stations with 16 pieces of front-line fire apparatus, seven front-line EMS units, one medium-squad and one HazMat unit.

Historic Station 1 - East Church Ave.
Historic Station 1 was built in 1906 and stopped running calls in 2007 when the new Station 1 was built. The Roanoke Police Department's Mounted Patrol maintains a stable in the station. Historic Station 1 is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Station 9 closed in 2010 when the new Station 5 was completed. Personnel from Station 9 and old Station 5 were consolidated into the new Station 5.
Station 10 - Aviation Dr.
Station 10 was privatized in 2010 by the Roanoke Regional Airport. The Roanoke Fire-EMS Department dispersed the previous crew to other Roanoke fire stations. The Airport plans to begin work on a new fire station in 2011.
