Roanoke County Fire Stations
Roanoke County Fire & Rescue's 14 stations are located across the county and are strategically placed to serve its citizens. Most stations have a 12-hour career shift from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday through Friday, with volunteers serving on week nights, weekends and on most holidays.

Station 1 is a full time career staffed station.

Station 2 - Vinton Fire & Rescue
Company 2 and Rescue 2 are separated into their own seperate, but connected buildings. Vinton's stations are co-owned by Roanoke County and the Town of Vinton. They are located in the Town of Vinton, but they receive some apparatus and their number by Roanoke County. Vinton is dispatched to calls by Roanoke County in both jurisdictions. One ambulance is career staffed full time by Roanoke County Fire & Rescue and the Town of Vinton.

Rescue 10 is a joint rescue squad between the Catawba and Masons Cove stations that operates as one entity. Rescue 10 is dispatched to both jurisdictions first due. One ambulance is career staffed full time by Roanoke County Fire & Rescue.

Most Roanoke County stations have units numbered by their home station's location.
- Format: Medic / Rescue Station Unit#
- Desc: ALS / BLS # #
- Example: Medic 5 2
- For example "Medic 52" is Hollins Unit, #2
Other units are specialty units that roam around stations; usually supervisors or chiefs.
Replace '#' with station number.

- Engine 9 - Reserve engine that covers for engines out of service
- HTR 1 - Heavy technical rescue truck
- Air 9 - Mobile air refill truck
- Rehab 2 - Rehab unit; Converted ambulance
- Chaplin 1,2 - County Chaplin
- EMS 2 - On-Duty EMS Captain
- Battalion 1 - On-Duty Battalion Chief
- FM 1,2,3 - Fire Marshals
- Division Chief 1,2,3,4 - Division Chief
- Chief # - Chief of a Fire Company and/or Rescue Squad
- #50 - Chief of a Rescue Squad
- Engine # - Primary response fire engine
- Wagon # - Primary response fire engine
- Ladder # - Aerial ladder truck
- Tanker # - Tanker truck that holds 1,500 gallons of water or more
- Squad # - Heavy vehicular rescue truck
- Attack # - Brush truck
- Brush # - Brush truck
- Utility # - Response vehicle for Fire/Rescue
- Car # - Response vehicle for Fire/Rescue
- Medic # - ALS staffed ambulance of at least EMT-I or above
- Rescue # - BLS staffed ambulance consisting of an EMT-B or EMT-E
