  • Chesterton: 500 and 600 series (primarily 500)
  • Kouts: 700 and 800 primarily 700

  • Union Twp: 1100 and 1200 (both sets used)
  • Boone Grove: 1300, 1400, 2300, and 2400
  • Ogden Dunes: 1500 and 1600 pri 1500
  • Hebron: 1700 and 1800 pri. 1700
  • Liberty Twp.: 1900 and 2000 pri. 1900
  • Pine Twp.: 2100 and 2200 pri 2100
  • Beverly Shores: 2500 and 2600 pri 2500
  • South Haven: 2700 and 2800 (both sets used)
  • Washington Twp: 2900 and 3000 pri 2900

Notes:

  • Portage is on 154.2200 and uses Ladder 1; Engines 1, 2, 3, & 4; Tower 2, and Rescues 1, 2, and 3.
  • Pine Twp and Beverly shores use each other extensively.
  • There is a county-wide mutual aid agreement.
  • Boone Grove VFD and Lake Eliza VFD merged and are now known as Boone Grove VFD when dispatched.
  • PHM-EMS and fire units are dispatched on 2 frequencies simultaneously.
  • The Porter County Fire Association web site is www.pcfa.net
  • Each number designates a department (i.e. "1300" is Boone Grove Station)
  • A designation of 0x (i.e. "1301" is Boone Grove's Chief, as would be "501" for Chesterton's Chief). This continues for all officers, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, etc.)
  • The Teens are engines: Boone Grove engine would be 1310, 1311 etc.
  • The 20's are for aerials (i.e. 1220 for Union Twp aerial)
  • The 30's are for rescues
  • The 40's are for tankers
  • The 50's are specialty rigs. (8450 is haz mat, 1257 is Union rehab unit)
  • The 60's are ambulances
  • The 70's are brush units
  • The 80's and 90's are individual members.
