Naming
San Juan County was named by the Utah State Legislature for the San Juan River, itself named by Spanish explorers (in honor of Saint John).
Home to Canyonlands National Park, Hovenweep, and Natural Bridges National Monuments as well as part of the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.
