Completion is targeted for 2012. Northwest Plaza, opened in two phases in 1966 and 1967 as an open-air mall, in 1988 it was enclosed to create an indoor mall. With 1.8 million square feet, it's the largest indoor mall in the area.

IDI Distributors
- 10/23 - A mall-turned-industrial park has signed its first “pioneer tenant.”
Insulation distribution company IDI Distributors will move its St. Louis location from its current leased space in Maryland Heights to Hazelwood Business Park, the former St. Louis Mills mall, at 5555 St. Louis Mills Blvd., that Ohio-based developer Industrial Commercial Properties LLC finished converting into industrial space earlier this year.
ICP has converted a series of malls, mostly in Ohio, to industrial parks, but the concept is new in St. Louis. The new project, which wrapped preliminary construction earlier this year, has 1.2 million square feet of industrial space available, taking up the former mall's entire interior except a Cabela's store and the IceZone ice rink complex.
IDI, headquartered in Chanhassen, Minnesota, will lease just over 27,000 square feet in the former mall. The distributor has operated its current St. Louis location at 11733 Dunlap Industrial Blvd. in Maryland Heights since 2015, Jake Kuhaupt, Midwest regional director for IDI, said in a news release. The Dunlap Industrial property is owned by Kresko Maune LLC, tied to Ramsey Maune.
The move marks a downsize in space for IDI, from roughly 40,000 square feet in Maryland Heights to about 28,000 square feet at Hazelwood Business Park. The new space has about the same amount of useable space since the prior space had an inefficient layout with some of it unused, Kuhaupt said in an interview.
