Clark County is located in west central Ohio and is a part of the Springfield Metropolitan Statistical Area. It was formed on March 1, 1818, and is named after General George Rogers Clark who fought Indians in Ohio in the late 1700s. The county seat and largest city is Springfield. Clark County has two cities, ten townships and eight villages

Medical Transportation

Med-Trans

Med-Trans is a privatized medical transportation business operating a fleet of 20 ambulances, 12 ambulettes, and 3 MICU vehicles from two offices. One in Dayton and the home office in Springfield. They offer coverage of the Greater Miami Valley.

Ohio State Highway Patrol

Clark County is served by OSP Post 12 Springfield, located at 4201 Gateway Blvd., Springfield, Ohio. All communications use the Ohio MARCS-IP system.

Springfield Airport/Air National Guard base

KSGH Tower is now closed.

The primary tennant is the 178th Wing (Intelligence and Reconnaissance Wing) unit under the National Air and Space Intelligence Center mission. They remotely support the MQ-1B Predator UAVs for combat operations worldwide.

The Air National Guard base is intact and expanding to the land across the state highway. For base security reasons, the state route will be relocated north of the construction area and the base will take over the old state highway. A similar project is underway at WPAFB to relocate SR 444.

Buck Creek State Park

Buck Creek State Park is a 1,896 acre state park located 4 miles northeast of downtown Springfield that features the 2,120 acre C.J. Brown Dam and Reservoir. The park is leased from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers who maintain flood control operations of the dam and reservoir. The park itself is maintained by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR). All official park communications are on the Ohio MARCS statewide system. Other VIP (Camp ground overseers) and campers can be heard using FRS radios throughout the summer camping season.
