Hanover County Communications System Information

- System consists of 15 tower sites
- System's capacity is 15 frequencies, as seen here; driven by GTR8000 repeaters & other required Motorola infrastructure.
- Linear simulcast modulation
- Microwave backhaul

- Local government subscribers (Public Utilities, School Busses, RMC) utilize a mixture of ASTRO25 equipment, such as XTS1500, XTS2500, XTS5000 portables & XTL1500, XTL2500, XTL5000 mobiles)
- Site 042/2A is operated by King William County, a 4 cell site with 6 frequencies. King William County's radio traffic is processed by Hanover County's system core, which is why their site retains a radio frequency subsystem (RFSS) value of 1.
- ECC operates 12 MCC7500 dispatch consoles at the PSECC, and several others at their back up center.
- Hanover Tower Fact Sheet (PDF) from pre-2010 system procurement period
- Upon completion of the Capital Region P25 Radio System, Hanover County's radio system core will be connected to the core of Henrico, Richmond, Chesterfield and Colonial Heights via Inter RF Subsystem Interface (ISSI). This will allow for subscribers from Hanover to roam seamlessly into the coverage area of Henrico/Richmond/Chesterfield as if they were still in the coverage area of Hanover, and vice versa with subscribers from Henrico/Richmond/Chesterfield/Colonial Heights into Hanover's coverage area. Read more about the Capital Region Radio System here.
- Hanover County's P25 system utilizes FDMA (P25 Phase I) voice exclusively, and there are no plans to implement TDMA (P25 Phase II) at this time, as system utilization data does not reflect a need for additional capacity.
