Scanning Colorado Air Medical Services
The State of Colorado is served by several Air Ambulance companies that operate across the state and region. Substantial frequency information can be found on the Medical Helicopters Agency Page for Colorado. Please note, within the last few years it has become more difficult to monitor AirMedical Talkgroup's on the DTR system. This is because over the last few years, system administrators have restricted AirMedical talkgroups from affiliating on certain wide-area coverage DTR sites throughout the State. In some cases, Air Ambulance DTR radios are permitted to use Hospital talk-in TGs, but NOT AirMed TGs, on a particular DTR site. Furthermore, there are five "aircraft only" DTR sites in mostly remote areas; if you are live near such a site, you may need a dedicated scanner for it, as it would typically have very little activity.
Although AirMed DTR talkgroups are still commonly used in many areas, you would have to monitor your local DTR site(s) with a RTL SDR based program (i.e. Unitrunker, DSD+ Fastlane etc, and NOT just a scanner) to determine if certain AirMed Talkgroups are allowed to affiliate on the site(s) in your area.

Flight for Life Colorado
Established in 1972, Flight for Life Colorado was the first hospital-based air ambulance program in the United States. Part of the Centura Health Network and based out of St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood, Flight for Life serves the entire Rocky Mountain Region with fixed wing, rotor wing, and ground based equipment. Rotor wing equipment is leased from Air Methods, Inc. while fixed wing aircraft is leased from and operated by Mayo Aviation based out of the Centennial Airport.
Flight for Life Colorado is dispatched by the St. Anthony Communications Center located at St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood. Calls are dispatched by Nextel and alphanumeric pager.
Helicopters
Since this is a larger operation it's not uncommon to shuffle aircraft around as needed during special events, and maintenance.
The Lifeguard call sign stays with the location, but the tail number may vary depending on which ship is in service at that location.
i.e. LG3 will almost always be the St. Francis aircraft, even though they may be flying the N493LG aircraft
Recent research 2/2021 indicates that there are several aircraft changes in the past year.
